“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
– Ephesians 3:20 NLT
I want to lead out by giving ALL GLORY TO GOD! Honestly, it would be laughable for me or our church to take credit from what God did through us over the past couple of weeks. We are a church plant just over 2 years old and consistently have about 400 people in attendance. That is everybody who breathes and a few that we aren’t sure of, but we count them anyway! But we set a couple of goal this month as we are moving forward in church life. 1) Was to be debt free – we were about $30,000 in debt to the organization that we planted through [We called this one-time, best gift, cash offering, “Heart For The House]. 2) Was to reach more people – So for Easter weekend we set a goal of 750 people in services. I am ecstatic to report that we reached and surpassed both of those goals!
I’m not writing this to talk about numbers or even goals…I am writing this to encourage your expectation of God in a BIG way! If you’re reading this from another church or not connected to Mercy City Church or maybe you are connected…what God is doing here is NOT exclusive to us or just The Church. He wants to show off in you and your church too!
God longs for people on earth to allow His mighty power to work within us! Remember when Jesus taught us how to pray in The Lord’s Prayer? “Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” [Matthew 6] It’s God’s power from heaven but in order for it to happen on earth we have to allow Him access to our lives! Let’s allow God access in a way that our lives can be used for infinitely more!
Speaking of, I am only beginning to grasp what this might look like in my life. And as I am, I’m doing all that I can to align myself to his promises and plan for me.
Infinite = limitless or endless in space, extent, or size; impossible to measure or calculate
Then I read this definition and realize, I have no clue! But, I do know that it starts with asking and thinking. The scriptures say, “That you have not because you amiss.” I know that my ask’s and thoughts need to get BIGGER. They need to be God sized…asking amiss is with impure motivation but also, asking something that you could accomplish on your own, with no need of God. If God’s desire is to accomplish something that is limitless in my life why am I consistently trying to measure success?
So, today…I am committing to ask BIG asks’ and to think BIG thoughts, in hopes that one day success won’t be measured up against anything that is happening or not happening for someone else that I know. Only against what I think God is wanting to accomplish in me!
Let’s join together with The Spirit of God and expect Good things.
