We are in the home stretch! Which for me means fighting the constant desire to quit because I have already made it this far! In times of fasting, it is easy to give up, to compromise or to justify but I urge you to finish well! I have learned a lot over the past 14 days of this fast, but I feel that there is still more to learn. That is why I am choosing to intentionally listen this week. Maybe I will not talk quite as much and rather sit and wait to hear from God. What is He saying to me, for me and wanting to do through me?
Our prayer focus this week is for the Church. I believe this means Mercy City but also the Church as a whole. One thing I know is that there are enough lost people in this city for every church in town to succeed. There is no need to compete and there is no need to judge each other. We are each called to something different, to reach different people and because of that, we can cheer one another on. We can support and pray for each other to succeed in doing what we are each called to do.
Nearly 2 years ago I stood on stage at Dawes Middle school for the very first time. As I looked out onto the crowd which would become a family, I shared this verse…
“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”
I believe this was the word of the Lord over Mercy City. That this great City would become HOME to many. A place to experience the power, love, and fullness that Christ has to offer. We have seen that over the past two years, but how much more does God want to do through us! It is truly too great to understand fully. So let us pray this week that we would see God’s word come to pass in our City and in the City of Lincoln. We are believing for influence in every area of life, for salvation and changed lives and for room to expand and grow.
This week let us join together to believe God for His vision for Mercy City, a clear and uncompromising voice in this city!
